William Wallace Awards

Nominations for Oranga Tamariki’s annual William Wallace Awards close on Friday 10 August. These awards are a chance to acknowledge the incredible achievements of young people in care who have overcome major obstacles in their life. There are 15 – 20 scholarships available, which value up to $4,000. These scholarships hope to help the recipients to pursue their dreams and contribute in developing their skills in preparation for their career paths.

The awards available are as follows:

Tertiary award
To help a young person go on to further study after school.

Vocational award
To help a young person train for a career or buy equipment for sports or artistic pursuits.

Leadership award
To help a young person develop their potential through a course or programme.

Outward Bound Scholarship
To help a young person complete an Outward Bound course.

The Girls Friendly Society Scholarship
This is a special award for an outstanding young woman living in the greater Wellington region.
