Ngā mihi mahana ki a koutou katoa (Warm greetings to you all)
I would like to start by thanking all of you who in some way participated in our Regional Hui, I trust that you went away with some valuable learning that you can apply to caring for the tamariki placed in your care. I also hope that you get to enjoy the L’Oréal gift packages that were so generously given by our partnership with L’Oréal .
We have had some well attended workshops this term with Building Secure Attachments and Understanding and Supporting Behaviour. These have given us some useful trauma informed information that supports us in the ability to be Therapeutic Caregivers.
Our contract with Oranga Tamariki now involves us doing “Follow Up sessions” with the attendees to look at how these learnings can translate within our homes; what was difficult and what needs support or clarification. This is an area that will give us the opportunity to reinforce and build on what was learnt in the full day workshops. The follow up sessions can be done at a convenient time and are around two hours. The feedback from the workshops has been encouraging and I look forward to seeing more people participate next term, and in the follow up sessions.
Our AGM is Wednesday 24 October and I invite you all to afternoon tea at my office at 1.00pm if you would like to join us. Please rsvp here or by txt 027369333 or call me on 03 9296578
