Welcome to the Upper South news for June! 6 months into the year already and things don’t seem to be slowing down.
We were lucky to have VOYCE – Whakaronga Mai come to Nelson in the school holidays and offer our Caregiving families a fabulous day at ProKarts. It was a huge amount of fun and I think we were thoroughly spoilt by the activities that they offered to both children and adults. To top it off the lunch was superb. Many thanks to VOYCE and their lovely team for offering this event to us.
Numbers for our workshops have been very low in recent times and I would like to encourage you all to consider registering and attending the next few. We have a brand new workshop – The Importance of Play. This workshop looks at how play is particularly relevant to the children we have in care. Our other core workshops have also been rewritten and are focused towards therapeutic care and what that means in how we parent the children we care for, so their life outcomes are more positive. Please keep these workshops alive in our area by attending two or more per year. Make it more fun by bringing along someone who works closely or supports your family and give them the added benefit of how trauma affects our children in care.
Look out for the new ones over the next couple of terms:
- Child development (updated)
- Understanding and Supporting Behaviour (rewritten)
- Building a Secure Attachment (rewritten)
