Ngā mihi mahana ki a koutou katoa/ Warm greetings to you all
Isn’t it great to feel the days lengthening out and get warmer as we approach Spring?
Over the next couple of terms I will be delivering the new Legal Information for Caregivers Training module. We know that Caregiving can be a complex journey filled with legal jargon, processes and practice. Sometimes we simply do not know what we do not know. Having the knowledge about what we are doing takes away a lot of the stress and anxiety, especially when taking legal orders for children or attending legal family meetings. Please, please reach out and ask questions, seek information and attend trainings. No questions are ever too silly to ask.
Fostering Kids NZ can help support you through this process or send you information explaining processes and pathways for future support.
Also, part of the new National Care Standards responsibilities is that Life Story work is expected to be provided for our tamariki. We have a “Keeping Memories” 2 hour session that helps caregivers to know what, who and where we should gather and store this information.
Check out our Training Calendar for dates for the above trainings in our region over September. Register here.
Fostering Kids NZ National Conference
Have you managed to have a look on our website to find out all about our National Conference coming up on the 16 and 17 October, at the Waipuna Hotel and Conference Centre ? It would be great to see as many of you from our region there as possible. It is an amazing experience, and very enjoyable too! You can find everything you need to know here:
Happy Fathers Day
September is the month we pay homage to our dads. Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there. To all our dads that have opened your hearts and homes to tamariki needing care. We thank you for the amazing work you do with our most vulnerable. We hope you got well and truly spoiled.
To all of you that commit to being on this journey thanks again for all you do to keep tamariki and mokopuna safe, happy, learning and healing. If you have any problems, please make contact via email or phone. I am here to support you. Remember a problem shared, is a problem halved.
Do something for YOU today, you’re so worth it!
Kia ata noho, kia mau tonu / Keep calm and carry on,
