Upper North News – Feb 2017

Message from Judi

Over the break, I had a lovely time with my family, camping and catching up, and it was fantastic to have some time together. I hope you’re all rested and refreshed and ready for the busy year ahead of us. In the Upper North we have had some lovely weather, although we could do with some decent rain again.

Association Information

We are sad to announce that Ricky Timms has stepped down from his position as second Key Contact person for the Whangarei Association. Sheryl is now looking for someone to help her with running the association. This is a voluntary position and if you think you might be interested contact either Sheryl or myself for more information.

The Whangarei Association is meeting at Barge Park from 12 – 1pm on TUESDAY 21ST of February 2017 to appoint a new person to the position and to thank Ricky for his much appreciated contribution.

Dates for Diary

Do note the workshop that Northland DHB, Alcohol Healthwatch and fasd-can (fetal alcohol support group NZ) are putting on at Barge Park on the 14th of February, for parents and caregivers of children with (or suspected of having) fetal alcohol issues.

For caregivers with children with these issues this will be a very useful workshop to attend. Contact me if you want further details.

Children’s Day – March 5th

A mail-out will be sent with details of events on the day to celebrate children.

Training

training-home-button-2Term One training workshops are now open for registration.

This term I am running a workshop called Carer Families on 21 February 2017 in Whangarei, then Identity & Belonging on 7 March 2017 in Kaikohe.

Just a reminder that caregivers can claim for mileage and childcare.

We want to reduce any barriers, so you may benefit from the great training provided specifically for caregivers. Please follow this link to the training calendar for more details and to register.
