Ngā mihi mahana ki a koutou katoa / Warm greetings to you all,
Congratulations to our Kaikohe FFA (Foundations for Attachment) participants who have completed their five months worth of follow up and integration two hour sessions. These people have dedicated time and effort into using the PACE approach in their family and work lives. Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou katoa/ Big Congratulations to you all.
The week of March 1 – 7 2020 is Foster Care Appreciation Week nationwide. Our Committee have agreed to host a ‘Paihia Pamper Day’ that will include make-up and skin advice from a trained beautician, a foot spa and a nail polish for the late morning, ending with lunch paid for from our regional fund at a local cafe` restaurant. This is a day out for our foster mums / aunts / nannies (sorry dads / uncles / koro-maybe a fishing trip for you next year!, But you are welcome to join us for lunch if you’re keen). We are still in the planning phase, so please let us know if Saturday 7 March or Sunday 8 March would suit you best to attend. If you could please give me expressions of interest, earlier rather than later, so we can find out how far we need to stretch our budget.
Our other main focus in the coming year will be to hold Kai and Coffee get togethers in the rural areas of the North, because we know how difficult it is for caregivers to get to the central areas for events. We are thinking Rawene, Dargaville, Maungaturoto, Kerikeri, Kawakawa, Opononi, Rawene and Te Kao – if you live in these places, then please indicate your interest in attending so we can organise to come to your town and make connections that are meaningful to you. Please make contact with either Karen Browne 0274 053 444, or Leanne Brownie 027 566 0294.
Have a blessed Summer Season. Thank you for all you do for tamariki and mokopuna in your care. See you in the New Year.
Fostering Kids NZ National Office will be closed from 24th December to the 6th January. For more information on what to do if you are in need of support during this time, click here.
