As part of ensuring that the National Caregiver Training Programme (NCTP) remains a high-quality learning experience, Oranga Tamariki are currently undertaking a review of the modules to make sure that all current legislation is covered. It is important that the material we deliver is current and accurate to effectively support caregivers.
On July 1 substantial changes to the Oranga Tamariki Act came into effect. We need to be sure that the National Caregiver Training Programme modules reflect these changes.
While this work is underway, the following modules will be unavailable:
- Child Development
- Building Secure Attachments
- Understanding and Supporting Behaviour
- Legal Issues
- Identity and Belonging
- Carer Families
- Safety and Prevention
- Working with Adolescents
- Health and Wellbeing
During this time we will be delivering the Keeping Memories, FASD and The Importance of Play modules. An updated training schedule is now available – click here
We hope to also bring you some newly developed sessions on the new National Care Standards and what this might mean for you as caregivers and for the children and young people you care for.
We’re working with Oranga Tamariki to ensure that modules become available again as soon as possible, and we apologise for this disruption to your training. We expect the first updated modules to be available from late-August and we’ll email you when the workshops are available again in your area.
