Chances are, if you call National Office, Jennifer Hanson is the first person you will speak to. Jennifer handles membership enquiries, monitors our Facebook pages, and provides administrative assistance to the critical support team, events, the associations and the key contacts. Jennifer is mum to three boys (9 months, 9, 10) and a girl (5) – as she says, it is a full house!
We sat down with Jennifer to learn a little more about what makes her tick:
What is your favourite thing about this job?
Talking to all the caregivers, and just hearing about the amazing things that they do. I came here from a legal background. Here I feel I am in amongst so many amazing compassionate people, and that what we do here is really making a difference. It is actually a real privilege to be able to hear from so many people who are doing such an amazing job all around the country.
What would you say is the main thing you’ve learnt over the two years in the job?
I’ve learnt how much of a need there is in this country for people like our caregivers – and what a sad place New Zealand would be without our members.
What is the first thing you do in the morning?
Coffee! And then emails!
What about the last thing before you go to bed?
Coffee, check on my babies, then a GOOD night’s sleep.
