Kia Ora Everyone
Summer is on the way with some great temperatures being had by us all- the beach and BBQ are beckoning, and with it Christmas is coming… just 6 weeks and our children will be on their summer holidays and preparing for Christmas. If you are wanting a Christmas gathering for fostering families in your area do let me know as I may be able to assist to organise something with other caregivers.
Our annual Family Fun Days at the Pool and Ten Pin Bowling parties will be happening in the next couple of days. I so hope you are able to attend and have lots of fun. These are a great celebration of how our communities have supported Fostering Kids NZ. They happen the same time each year so if you didn’t get tickets this time keep an ear to the ground this time next year as they are a lot of fun for all.
Stay safe over November with Fireworks and end of year functions coming up. Take special care of yourself and your own needs so you are on top of the game as life speeds up in preparation for the end of year celebrations.
Please reach out for support if you are struggling with understanding either the behaviours of the children living with you, or what caring for your children is making you feel like. You can reach me on 027 5020391 or Fostering Kids NZ 0800 693 323.
I hope to see you about at a training or support event near you soon.

This term’s training has a real focus on childhood trauma and how that may affect the development of the children you have in your care. In November, I am on the road visiting Balclutha for a full day training on Child Development on Tuesday 27, then in Oamaru and Dunedin on Wednesday 28 talking about Living and Working with Trauma Experienced Children and Young people. Come along and join the discussions and meet other like-minded carers. Please check our Training Calendar for all the details and to register (click here).
