Kia Ora All
I sincerely hope you and yours all made it safely through the recent cyclones. It is a reminder that we need to have our emergency kits updated and in order. If you had to evacuate in a hurry what would that look like and what would you take?

Following a recent mention on our Facebook page, I have had queries from Caregivers about paid parental leave through Inland Revenue. Another concerned Caregiver has asked about a welfare guardian being put in place for young person for when they transition to independence, and another about joining their young people under 18 years into KiwiSaver as they begin part time work.
Click here for the facts on paid parental leave. The good news is that if you are a permanent caregiver, you should be able to get it. We are currently researching the other topics and will share information as we receive it. Huge thanks for bringing these topics to our attention. It is so important we share our knowledge so other Caregivers can also provide the very best for the young people in their care. Special thanks to those who post interesting articles and posts onto our Facebook support page. If you are not a member and would like to be here is the link. Here is a short but interesting snippet from a recent webinar with Dr Dan Hughes talking about ‘Why trust matters, and why mistrust is so common in the children we work with’. Enjoy https://vimeo.com/212210136
