Kia Ora koutou/Greetings everyone!
You all do amazing work caring for our tamariki and rangatahi, and we just wanted to show our appreciation for the extraordinary work you all do. I so hope you manage to get to one of the morning or afternoon teas that are being held about the region for Foster Care Awareness Week. I would like to thank Foster Hope and L’Oréal who will be generously sharing gifts at these events.
I will also have the huge pleasure of introducing our newest member of the staff to some of you; Rob Thomson. As a Regional Coordinator, he will offer support, training and advocacy throughout Dunedin, North & South Otago. Rob starts on Wednesday 6 March. These boundary changes will mean more support hours for the entire region. I will be continuing to support, train and advocate throughout Central Otago and Southland. I would like to thank everyone who has supported me in my role over the years. It has been really appreciated, and an honour and privilege working alongside you all…. thanks.
I also want to bring to your attention that our Regional Hui (symposium) registration link is now open. It will be on the 3 April 2019 in Dunedin. My wish is to offer some further understanding about how our children’s learning is impacted when children have experienced childhood trauma. I have a trauma trained psychologist, a trauma sensitive school principal, a member of the reThink team discussing sensory issues in children and a panel to explain, offer strategies and create further discussion. Please feel free to encourage your child’s class teacher, teacher aide, principal, RTLB or coaches to come along. It is free for our caregiver members and just $20 for professionals. Caregivers, get together to car pool, it’ll be a great day.
Please follow this link to see the speaker bios and to register.…
