Kia Ora Everyone,
A special big reminder to all that you are doing an extraordinary job looking after the children you have in your care. It is not always easy; please give yourself a huge hug and some special self-care. Remember as the flight attendant says – “put on your own oxygen mask first then that of your child”. If you are not in top form you cannot do your best job with those in your care. Please look after yourselves.
Huge congratulations to the recipients of the Excellence in Foster Care Awards. I hope you all had a fantastic weekend in Wellington. It’s just a shame the planes and wallets aren’t big enough to take you all up to celebrate the great work you all do.
There were some great celebrations around the region for Foster Care Awareness Week; from dinner and picnics to retreats. I hope you were able to be a part of something near you. Here are a couple of photos of the Carer Family Retreat held at Omaui near Bluff in Southland. A special thanks to all who helped to make this weekend happen, there has been some fantastic feedback from Caregivers and children alike – one child said it was the best camp he had ever been to!
Take care and stay safe.

The term two training schedule will be open for registration early April. You will receive an email link to the new calendar, once it has been released. Upskilling is such an important part of caregiving. It will give you tools and strategies as well as connect you with other caregivers.
