The foster parent’s 24 hour 7 day role isn’t an easy one. There are times when the foster parent needs specialist support to hang in there in the difficult times.

Fostering Kids exists to give foster parents and their families the support they need to continue caring for their foster children for as long as possible.
The best thing for children in foster care is to have a stable environment where they can rebuild their lives, learn to trust, and develop self-esteem.
Fostering Kids aims to give foster parents practical support in providing a new home to give these disadvantaged kids a fresh start.

Five regional Support Co-ordinators are more than just a friendly voice over the phone – they are passionate, specialised professionals. They help foster parents manage the inevitably difficult and often traumatically challenging behaviour of children in their care.
Support Co-ordinators help foster parents understand and cope with harrowing legal issues such as guardianship, court orders, family group conferences, biological parent rights. They help organise parent support groups in local areas so foster parents can draw strength from each other.
Fostering Kids endeavours to provide whatever is needed to strengthen the whole family, including siblings, so that the child can stay with the one foster family for as long as possible.
When a child finds stability and sense of belonging and begins to feel understood, they can begin to recover the childhood that has been taken from them by abuse and trauma.
Only when they feel like a cherished part of a family can a child learn to build and maintain strong relationships, learn to say ‘I love you’, and lead a settled and fulfilling adult life.
