At Fostering Kids NZ we have a wonderful programme of events which celebrate caregivers and provide excitement for the children in your care.
March starts with Children’s Day on Sunday the 4th. Throughout the country our Regional Coordinators and your Key Contacts will be organising fun events for you to enjoy with your family. Many of these events are community wide. Children’s Day kicks off Foster Care Awareness week. A great week for us to increase the public’s awareness of the great work that you do and to award 10 caregivers for the excellent work that they do at the Excellence in Foster Care Awards, held in conjunction with Oranga Tamariki.
Fostering Kids NZ has a wonderful relationship with L’Oreal New Zealand and together we run ‘Face Your Future’. This is an amazing experience for 50 youth, aged between 16 to 18, to spend two days with us at L’Oreal in the April school holidays. Both days are packed with motivational speakers and hands-on workshops to get young people thinking about what is next in their lives. Youth don’t have to live in Auckland to attend, we have funding for 15 from outside Auckland.
We are also fortunate to offer free bikes for children in care. This is through Elevate, a team building company that builds children’s bikes and donates them to charity. We are fortunate to be one of those charities. If you have a child that is less than 160cm make sure you have completed a registration form for them so that we can contact you when there is an event in your area next. (Elevate Application Form)
In 2018 we will be bringing you more regional conferences. This will allow better access for a greater number of caregivers to attend and provide more of a local flavour.
November and December see 100’s of children and their families enjoying 30 events around the country. There are pool parties, ten pin bowling or movies. Family Fun Days are local community events funded by local businesses. If you haven’t heard about an event in your area check on our website for more details – http://fosteringkids.org.nz/events-2/family-fun-days/
