Following Children’s Day begins Foster Care Awareness Week, 4 – 10 March. Foster Care Awareness Week gives us the opportunity to recognise all the amazing caregivers who provide homes to children in need. Whether you provide emergency, interim, transitional, permanent, whanau / kin care, or family home care. We want to celebrate and be thankful for all the work that you do. In our eyes, you are the everyday heroes in the community who make a real difference!
Foster Care Awareness week also provides us the opportunity to share your stories and how you’ve made a difference to the children in your lives. Here at Fostering Kids NZ, we try hard to share these inspirational stories with the wider community and mainstream media in order to increase awareness of the caregiving community. If you want to share your story about why you chose to be a caregiver and what makes you keep going, please email your story to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Excellence in Foster Care Awards
Foster Care Awareness Week will end with a bang as we celebrate Excellence in Foster Care on Friday 9 March with an awards ceremony at Parliament to honour this years recipients.
Each year, it is an extremely difficult task for our judges to choose ten couples or individuals from the dozens who are nominated. But we’re sure you’ll agree, the recipients stories are inspirational to all.
