Kia ora koutou

I trust the school holidays were enjoyed by all and that by now you are all back into usual routines.

There was quite a cold snap in the area with snow on the Napier/Taupo Road.  Hoping its all clear and open when I come through in early September!

Luckily the Waioeka Gorge doesn’t close that often.  Touch wood…..

I really enjoyed travelling around the area recently, meeting with caregivers and Care Teams.  I’m looking forward to strengthening these relationships over time.

Are you a member of our East Coast closed Facebook page for caregiver members?  Here is the link. You will find interesting articles and it is a place to connect for specific support. The posts are about notices of meetings, events relevant to caregivers, articles that spark a bit of thinking, and, it’s been great to see people posting questions or in need of support.  This is what it’s for, another support tool so you can connect in with others who journey a similar caregiving path.  Remember I’m here, Fostering Kids NZ is here and your local support/network group and association (run by your peers) are also here should you need us and to connect and not journey alone.

Training

It was lovely to meet up for the first time with the Gisborne Caregivers who participated in the Attachment & Resilience Training on the 20 June. We shared so much knowledge and experiences on this subject.   I look forward to catching up with you on 15 August at the Child Development Training.

In Napier it was also a privilege to meet up with local caregivers to learn more about Legal Issues – new legislation and different orders can be confusing, so good to be up with the play!

Please check out our website, link for all the Term three training dates, locations and to register. I look forward to seeing you at a training soon.

Te Rito Training

There was an outstanding response to our recent advertisement of the Te Rito Bicultural Competency E-Learning Modules. If you registered for this, by now you should have received your access to begin this training. If you haven’t received anything, please contact Christine at caregivertraining@nullfosteringkids.org.nz

We are aware a few people have been experiencing problems with their access or it not saying they have completed the modules. The training organisation, is looking into this and hopes to have it rectified soon. If you continue to experience issues, please contact us so we can pass on your details.
