Congratulations to Tapaeru and William Houia

2017 Excellence in Foster Care Award recipients.

Children who arrive at the Family Home Tip and Bill run are soon made to feel comfortable by their friendly and happy manner. They learn that their needs come first and quickly settle in.

Known for their ability to connect with teenagers, Tip and Bill are adept at managing some of their most challenging behaviours in a way that respects and enhances mana.

When new caregivers are training, Tip and Bill are always there to share their experience and perspective with others. And social workers know they can call on them regardless of the hour, day or night, when a child or young person needs them.

It’s not uncommon for children who’ve stayed with Tip and Bill in the past to fling their arms around them and give them a big hug when they meet. These actions speak louder than any words.
