East Coast – March 2017

Message from Cath

Tēnā koutou

March is special as it holds Foster Care Awareness Week and a chance to celebrate some wonderful caregivers at the Foster Care Excellence Awards in Wellington on the 10th March.  Many events around the country will be held during this week 5h – 11th March to help raise awareness of the great and important role you do.

As the new Regional Coordinator it has been a busy few weeks in the start of my new role.  My region is purely based on the East Coast – which runs from the wider Hawkes Bay up through to the Gisborne and down to Waiouru and Norsewood. Over the next few months and years I look forward to getting to know and support you as you journey as caregivers from all over the wonderful East Coast.

The first thing I’d like to share is, we now have our own regional Facebook page up and active and we would love to see this as another form of connection for members. Such a great way to share ideas or ask for support from fellow members. This month all members that like the page will go in the draw to win some Lego. This is a closed group for members only.

Looking forward to getting to know you all and hope to be able to offer support and education to help strengthen fostering practice in the East Coast.
