Kia ora koutou/Greetings everyone!

August has been a busy month with the delivery of the Foundations For Attachment Training, as part of the LIFT Programme, every Tuesday in the Arataki Centre, Mount Maunganui. 12 caregivers were funded by Oranga Tamariki, PCSS and a Fostering Kids NZ benefactor to attend these and the follow up support to be given over several months.  The course incorporates the PACE (playfulness, acceptance, curiosity, empathy) model and DDP (Dyadic developmental practice) principles of Dan Hughes – which so many of you have heard me talk about.  It’s been a wonderful opportunity for us all to explore, with more time, a different way of being with children affected by developmental trauma.  I really hope this will become available to more caregivers in the future!

Nga mihi/Kind regards

Gonny

Training

It was a great pleasure to be able to offer the new training Building Secure Attachments again due to popular demand. It shows how much caregivers and professionals are keen to learn better ways of incorporating a therapeutic approach for children from insecure attachments.

The next workshop is “Maltreatment & Family Violence” in Tauranga Thursday 6 September in The Hillier Centre 31 Gloucester Rd, Mount Maunganui.

“Understanding & Supporting Behaviour” workshop to be held at Oranga Tamariki, Ministry For Children in Pyne St, Whakatane.  Friday 14 September. This is also one of the new trainings incorporating more up to date knowledge about what’s going on underneath the behaviour emotionally for the child and how we can best respond.

Please check our Training Calendar link and be sure to register for the workshops offered or you can contact Christine on 0800 100 849. Look forward to meeting you there!
