“(The effects of) Maltreatment & Family Violence” workshop was held in Tauranga Thursday 6 September in The Hillier Centre, 31 Gloucester Rd, Mount Maunganui. We had a great turnout with plenty of lively participation as we examined what it must be like for the children/young people who have experienced maltreatment. However, once that has been understood we moved straight into what we as a community can do to help with the healing process for the children.
“Understanding & Supporting Behaviour” workshop was held on 14 September at Oranga Tamariki, Ministry For Children in Pyne St, Whakatane. We looked at what’s going on underneath the behaviour emotionally for the child and how we can best respond. We welcomed a new caregiver couple into the whanau as well.
