Kia ora koutou
Seasons are definitely changing as winter is well on its way and as we head to the middle of the year and feel the chillier months. Things are changing for me too. I’m going to have the privilege of working full time for Fostering Kids New Zealand very soon as I will be extending the regional areas that I support.
From the middle of next month, I will be gradually taking on the East Coast region, including the Hawkes Bay and Gisborne/Tairawhiti. In my previous professional role, I travelled this area so have some great connections already in place. I’ll be planning my terms making sure I do ‘road trips’ to all the areas in the Central and East of my new region. I very much still want to connect with you all as much as possible when I am facilitating the training workshops and attending get the togethers/network groups in each area. Being full time will mean that you can contact me Monday to Friday (from the middle of July) if you need some support or have any questions.
Over the last month, I’ve been able to support some of you as you have struggled with situations and wanted some advocacy. I do count it as an honour to journey with Foster/Whanau/Kin caregivers especially when situations of stress get resolved. If any of you are struggling with a situation, please contact either myself, your local Key Contact or National Office. Our focus at Fostering Kids NZ is to try to get the best supports caregivers need.

Have you noticed the changes to our Fostering Kids NZ website? Click here and see what they are. There are a lot of resources, podcasts, conference, training calendar and events. It will also give you updated information about what is happening in the changing care sector.
Our conference this year will be held in Christchurch on 28–29th September 2017. It will again be an amazing event. Start planning now, while flights are less expensive.
This closed page is for you, if you are a whanau/kin/foster caregiver. Please flick me an email, or request to come on-board. It is great to have thought provoking posts added, or as they say…. a problem shared is a problem halved…. I know when caregiver peers offer their shared knowledge the encouragement and support of each other has been great. So keep an eye on the page. Any suggestions for items I can research or other useful / inspiring posts or comments gratefully received!
