Kia Ora koutou/Greetings everyone!
I trust all is going well with Matariki celebrations/remembrances in your region. It is so lovely to have something to look forward to in these winter months.
I just want to highlight that many caregivers can often feel isolated as friends, whānau and other parents don’t understand the challenges to this selfless role. This is why getting together with other caregivers or support groups can be so valuable, so please get involved. Have a look further on in these Snippets for groups / contact people in your area.
Here is something else to look forward to if you’re in the wider Tauranga area:
Extraordinary Care Fund (ECF)
If you receive the Unsupported Child or Orphan’s Benefit for a child in your care, you are eligible to apply to the ECF for a grant of up to $2,000 in each financial year (1 July to 31 June).
The ECF is designed to support children who are:
• Experiencing difficulties that are significantly impacting on their development; or
• Showing promise in a particular area
