Kia Ora koutou/Greetings everyone!
I trust all is going well with Matariki celebrations/remembrances in your region. So lovely to have something to look forward to in winter.
The Family Day held on 30 June in Tairawhiti/Gisborne was a fine sunny day full of games and goodies. A big shout out to the Regional Committee members (Moana and Sarndy) who put in the effort to organise this event.
I just want to highlight that many caregivers can often feel isolated as friends, whānau and other parents don’t understand the challenges to this selfless role. This is why getting together with other caregivers or support groups can be so valuable, so please get involved. Have a look further on in these Snippets for groups / contact people in your area. If you’ve got an idea for a group or would like to start one close to you, I’d love to help. See my contact details.

“Keeping Memories” Discussion Session in Hastings helped us all understand the importance of keeping a Life Story Book for our tamariki. We learnt what we could include in them, where to find important details and how to include beautiful descriptors for photos.
By the time you read this Tairawhiti/ Gisborne whanau will have attended the “Securing Permanency” Discussion Session on 26 June. There are important considerations covered in this before achieving permanency for a child.
