Summer is upon us with school holidays and Christmas! Hard to believe the year has gone so fast. There are still a lot of events and trainings coming in December – here are some of them:
FASD (Fetal Alcohol) Dr Valerie McGinn Speaking in Tauranga:
There has been a lot of interest in setting up a group for caregivers with tamariki/children affected by alcohol in the womb. Milli Lovell along with several others has organised the knowledgeable presenter Dr Valerie McGinn to speak in Tauranga on Friday 7 December 9.30am – 3.30pm at the Greerton Hall. Support Group Information:
New Support Groups: Special interest groups eg based on location, FASD, grandparents, etc. can register with Fostering Kids NZ and receive a contribution of $3.00 per member who attends your support group meetings towards the cost of refreshments, for up to eight meetings a year. Rural areas need only three members and city groups need five members to qualify for the contribution. Individuals can belong to several groups.

Grans Raising Grandies, Te Puke will be holding regular get togethers on the first Monday of each month at 10.30 am. Those interested please ring Win Macreadie on 0284021794.
Tauranga Grandparents Raising Grandchildren – Sadly Karen Ormsby has resigned from her voluntary position as liaison person after four years in the role. Thank you for the support and hours you have put in, Karen, you will be missed. Any grandparents are always welcome to join other grandparents, whanau carers and foster parents at the monthly B.O.P Association meetings. Details below.
Bay of Plenty (Tauranga) Association Support Group meet monthly for all types of caregivers. Come and share a cuppa, receive support and awhi/cherish each other in the wonderful work you do. Forever Families is a support group for Permanent Caregivers or those interested in Permanency. They meet monthly according to interest. Email Laura email@example.com
