Tēnā koutou katoa/Greetings to you all

I have just spent a wonderful three days in Wellington with my fellow Regional Coordinators.  We were training for the new “Importance of Play” workshop, with the first one being run in Christchurch on Tuesday 15 May.

Also, rewritten and updated with a Therapeutic Parenting Lens are Child Development, Understanding & Supporting Behaviour (the old Understanding & Managing Behaviour) and Building Secure Attachements (the old Attachment & Resilence workshops).

Please check out the workshop calendar for more details of when these are being offered. You can register here or if you need any assistance please contact Christine on 0800 100 849.

The workshops are also a wonderful way to meet other caregivers and build up your support networks.  Please also make the use of your support groups, as they are a good way to connect with other caregivers.

Lastly from me, please join the Fostering Kids NZ Canterbury Facebook group. This is a closed page for caregivers only.  Also, if you could give me some feedback as to whether you find the things I post of interest, or alternatively what would you like to see posted.

School Holidays – yay! I have enjoyed a little extra sleep in during the holidays.

We had our school holiday event on the Friday 20th. Great to see those there. We headed to a goat farm, taking a picnic. There was an Easter egg hunt and lots of fun was had by all.

The family camp is on hold until later in the year – watch this space for more details.

Mid-Winter Pot luck Christmas party will be in June or July. Watch out for our email as you will be required to register for this event.

We are reducing our monthly meeting down to one a term. The next meeting will be held in May.   Remember to have that coffee date or do something for yourself!  You are important and matter to the child/children or teenager (as I am reminded) in your care!

Take care
