Kia Ora koutou/Greetings everyone!
Foster Care Awareness Week this year is 03 – 09 March. This gives us an opportunity to give thanks to you, the amazing, selfless caregivers who have such huge hearts for what you do. After such success at last year’s event, its been arranged for you again to have the opportunity to make hanging baskets, on Thursday 07 March at 10am, at Bunnings Tower Junction. There will also be a chance to catch up after, over a cup of tea or coffee, with other caregivers. It was so good last year, I have been asked to arrange again this year, see the photos below!
Please let me know if you would like to attend as I need to notify Bunnings of numbers, 027 501 0392.
I am really enjoying the new trauma informed, National Caregiver Training Programme (NCTP) workshops. Please go and have a look at what we are offering for the rest of the term. I would love to see you at one of the trainings. These workshops are such a wonderful opportunity to gain further knowledge, skills and strategies to help you in your role. Registrations are required, please register here. Or if you need any assistance or have any questions, please contact Christine on 0800 100 849.
The workshops are also a wonderful way to meet other caregivers and build up your support networks. Please also make the use of your support groups, as they are a good way to connect with other caregivers.
Lastly from me, please join the Fostering Kids NZ Canterbury Facebook group, this is a closed page for caregivers only. I welcome your feedback as to whether you find the things I post of interest, or, ideas on what would you like to see posted.
If you are in Christchurch and have a need, please call Ngarie on 03 3562455 . The answer machine is always on and if she misses you she will usually get back to you within a couple of days. Foster Hope do a whole lot!! Please see http://www.fosterhope.org.nz/what-we-do .

2018 gone and 2019 has arrived. Another year for our group to look forward to with our families. The picnic tea nights were lovely in the gardens. We were disappointed to have to cancel one because of weather! We look forward to more outings during the year.
Our committee have plans for another breakfast and an outing with the children.
We are so lucky to have people serving on the committee who are dedicated to help and support all foster carers. Look forward to seeing you during this year. Email: firstname.lastname@example.org Or Text 020 4119 6505.
