Tēnā koutou katoa/Greetings to you all
Wow that was a quick change from summer to autumn/winter, I hope you all survived the snap of bad weather, especially those winds! As the season has changed it is a timely reminder to check our smoke alarms and our heat pumps and fire maintenance for the coming colder months.
The first new “Importance of Play” Workshop in Chistchurch went well and was enjoyed by everyone. I am very much looking forward to bringing you the updated Child Development, Understanding and Supporting Behaviour Development and Building Secure Attachments. They have all been rewritten or updated and have a therapeutic parenting foundation. Please check out the Workshop calendar for more details and to register.
I am constantly amazed and inspired by all of our wonderful caregivers who open their hearts and homes to support the children in their care. We are here to support you, so please feel free to reach out for support whenever you need it.
The workshops are also a wonderful way to meet other caregivers and build up your support networks. Please also make the use of your groups in your area, as they are a good way to connect with other caregivers.
Coming up is Understanding & Supporting Behaviour workshop on 23 June in Rangiora and the Team work workshop in Christchurch on 27 June. I would love to see you at one of the trainings. This is such a wonderful opportunity to gain further knowledge, skills and strategies to help you in your role. Registrations are required, please register here. Or if you need any assistance or have any questions, please contact Christine on 0800 100 849.
All training start at 9am. Please arrive 10 minutes early to ensure we are able to start promptly. This is to ensure the validity of the programme, that you are able to get the most out of the programme and that you do not interrupt the training. We also request that unless really urgent you stay until the end, 3pm.
Lastly from me, please join the Fostering Kids NZ Canterbury Facebook group, this is a closed page for caregivers only. Also if you could give me some feedback as to whether you find the things I post of interest, alternatively what would you like to see posted.
