Tēnā koutou katoa/Greetings to you all

I hope you and your wonderful families are managing to stay nice and warm and avoiding all of those nasty winter bugs.  The end of term two is almost upon us and I hope the weather will be good enough for you to get out and about and enjoy your area over the holidays.

Good in the Hood

Thank you to Good in the Hood and all of you for supporting Fostering Kids NZ at Z Carlton and Otautahi Foster Care Association at Z Curletts!  We managed to raise a whopping amount, so again thank you for your support.

Ngarie from Foster Hope wants you to know that they are having a PJ drive at the moment and they have been given lots.  Please contact Ngarie if you need PJ’s.

Good in the Hood

If you are in Christchurch and need anything, please call Ngarie on 03 356 2455 – she has lots of resources and contacts. The answer machine is always on and if she misses your call she will usually get back to you within a couple of days.

Foster Hope .

I would like to say a big thank you to all the wonderful cargivers who joined me for the first of the updated workshops, Understanding and Supporting Behaviour in Timaru and Rangiora.  Both workshops were very well attended and there was a huge amount of caregiving experience and knowledge in the room.  I enjoyed both workshops immensely and the feedback given about the inclusion of the latest trauma informed knowledge and research has been extremely positive.  Please check the training calandar below to see when the next workshop is in you area.

The workshops are also a wonderful way to meet other caregivers and build up your support networks.  Please also make the use of your support groups, as they are a good way to connect with other caregivers.

The Term Three training schedule is now live on our website.  Please go and have a look at what we are offering next term.  I would love to see you at one of the trainings.  This is such a wonderful opportunity to gain further knowledge, skills and strategies to help you in your role.  Registrations are required, please register here.   Or if you need any assistance or have any questions, please contact Christine on 0800 100 849.

Lastly from me, please join the Fostering Kids NZ Canterbury Facebook group, this is a closed page for caregivers.  Also, if you could give me some feedback as to whether you find the things I post of interest, alternatively what would you like to see posted.

Ngā mihi

Rangiora Caregivers Group

Hi there wonderful caregivers. I Hope you are all keeping warm.

We had a wonderful caregivers meeting on the 12th of June even though Sian burnt the bottom of the sausage rolls (the Morning teas are awesome thanks to our wonderful Caregiver Social workers). We also did a bit of a talk on Validation, thanks Sian this was great and the hand out was awesome.

Sian and Sita (our caregiver Social workers) are keen to hear anything you would like to see happening at our caregiver morning teas.

Our next caregivers get together is on July the 3rd, it would be great to see you there (I always feel so much better after these.)

Cheers Deb
