Ngā mihi o te Kirihimete me te Tau Hou / Season’s greetings for Christmas and the New Year!

This year is quickly coming to a close!  What a fabulous time had by all at the Family Fun Days in Timaru (swimming) and Christchurch (bowling).  It was a delight to see families enjoying activities together!

It’s been such a pleasure getting to know so many families in Canterbury since I became your Regional Coordinator in August.  It’s difficult to put into words the privilege that it is to be involved in your journeys.  I have learnt so much – the hardest lesson being that there is one of me and many of you!

As the year draws to a close, I’d like to acknowledge those of our community who have faced the tragedy of a passing loved one, the sorrow that accompanies a transition, or the heartache of having done your best but fearing it still wasn’t enough.  I urge you to be kind to yourselves.  Trust that you are enough, have faith that you can persevere, and allow yourself to ask for help from those who love and support you!  December is such a busy time…  With school concerts, family meals, and holiday festivities, think about scheduling some intentional down time for yourself and connecting with others who understand.
