Canterbury News – April 2019

The shocking event that occurred a couple of weeks ago has certainly seen a variety of emotions and responses from young and old alike.  Be reassured that the rest of Aotearoa is standing with you and although we’re not physically there, we want to support you.  Please get in touch with us or a trusted peer if you need an ear or shoulder.

It was lovely to hear that a number of you participated in the Foster Care Awareness Week activities at the beginning of March.  We hope that the flowers are blooming and adding some colour in your garden.

Make sure you read the lovely article about Graeme and Gwenda Swinney.  It’s with much appreciation for all that they have contributed to Fostering Kids NZ and our predecessor, NZ Family & Foster Care Federation, that they are being acknowledged in becoming Life Members of Fostering Kids NZ.

Just to keep you updated, due to the current events in Christchurch and respecting where people and families might be at, we have decided to extend our recruiting for a Regional Coordinator for the region.  Fostering Kids NZ thanks Lorraine for her dedication while she was in the role.  We wish her all the best in this next season of her life.
