Kia Ora everyone
Seasons are definitely changing. As we head into the middle of the year and feel the chillier months, we know that winter is nearly here. This year is going so fast and we have a lot going on.
As I have been travelling around the region connecting with caregivers, I am constantly reminded of the selfless work you do with little or no support. As an ex-caregiver I am more than aware that when the going gets tough, the tough are left to deal with it. Remember that support is just a phone call away. Fostering Kids NZ is committed to offering our members support and training, you only need to call us.
I probably sound like a broken record but self care has got to be a priority. You are no good to your family and the children you care for, if you are neglecting your well-being.
We have a number of support groups running around the region or if you are inclined, you can start one yourself. There is more information through our website.
There are several workshops and discussion sessions coming up this term that could be of interest.
The Fostering Kids NZ conference is being held in Auckland this year in October and we will be honoring those caregivers who have received the Excellence in Foster Care Awards. It’s going to be mammoth! If you are interested in attending, keep an eye on our website for details regarding registering. Hope to see you there!
Take care everyone and if you’re in the neighborhood, stop in for a chat.
To register please go to our website. Should you not be able to attend for any reason after registering, could you please send in your apology ASAP to Christine (0800 100 849) so that we can anticipate numbers and cater accordingly.
Kia kaha, Kia manawanui, Kia tūpato/Be strong, be courageous, be safe!
