Tēnā koutou

I hope everyone is keeping warm and finding fun things to do in this cold and wet season. I love winter for its fireplaces, heaters, soups and fleecy pyjamas.  Foster Hope has again been running amazing pyjama drives, so get in touch with myself if you require some for the children in your care, as I will be getting some delivered directly to my office.  These are mostly bigger sizes 12-16 this time.

I will be away in the UK and sunny Greek Islands from 9th – 28th July returning on 31st July.  If you require support during this time, touch base with the Key Contacts in your area or you can contact our head office on 0800 693 323 and they will be able to assist or point you in the right direction.

We have some great things happening in the next few months ahead including our Auckland North Regional Hui.  This will be held on Friday 18th August 9:30am – 2:30pm, with the registration desk open from 9am.  YOU MUST REGISTER prior to 4th August TO BE ABLE TO ATTEND ON THE DAY.  A flyer will be sent out soon.  This event is being held at the Trust Stadium in Henderson. This is being supporting by funding from the Massey/Henderson Ward Council, Z – Western Gas and also The Trust Stadium.

If you are interested in stage shows, I have been given eight tickets to give away to Matilda on Wednesday 23rd August, 7.30pm show.  These will go to four caregivers to take along one older young person (must be 10 or over) in care.  Please email if you are interested:

Our conference this year will be held in Christchurch on 28–29th September 2017. It will again be an amazing event.  Make sure you get in and book fast. Go to our website for more information;  Conference Website

The Z Station ‘Good in the Hood’ Awards have been and we managed to raise an amazing $5943 ($1816 + additional $2000 from Henderson Valley & Point Chev Stations, $1045 from Beach Rd and $1082 from Warkworth).  This is fabulous and a big thank you to those lovely caregivers that offered a few hours to promote us.

Also the West Auckland Fostercare Association managed to raise an amazing $6326 for their Association from Massey North, Hillsborough and Lincoln Rd Stations.  Yasser, Pam and those who helped, you should be proud of all the hard work you put in to promote the world of foster care awareness – well done.

Don’t forget to join our Facebook Support page. This is kept up-to-date with trainings, coffee groups, events and other information:

  • Do you want to find out more about the effect of trauma on the brain, so you can support and understand a child placed in your care?
  • Do you know about the inside/outside age of your child and what this means to their development across the four areas of wellbeing (Te Whare Tapu Wha)
  • How redeveloping trust can assist you as a caregiver?

To find out these and more come along to a training near you. Here is the Link to our training calendar.
