Kia ora koutou katoa/ Greetings to you all,
Well we really have hit the depths of winter! I hope everybody is taking special care to treat themselves kindly and find something that brings joy during these short, rainy, cold days!
I certainly found some joy in the Matariki activities that I attended with the whanau over July. How fortunate are we here in Tamaki Makaurau to have such an extensive Matariki Festival programme.
School holidays can often be challenging times for families and whanau. The change and / or absence of routine can be triggering. We are not always well prepared for what children present to us emotionally, mentally or physically. Perhaps you are feeling relieved that the school term is back into swing or maybe your child struggles with the pressure and timetables that school places on them. Either way, if you have an issue, please make contact via email or phone. I’m here to support you and help you. Remember a problem shared, is a problem halved.
If you are interested in finding out more about FASD then the online training module on the Matua Raki website is excellent. You can register and then complete parts of the module as time allows as it saves your progress, so you can return to it when you can. https://www.matuaraki.org.nz/initiatives/fetal-alcohol-spectrum-disorder-fasd/190
Please feel free to ring me if you require any information about care giving or support with the children in your care.
