By now the children and young people will back at school and term three will be under way. I hope that you all managed to have some lovely ‘together’ time over the holidays. I have just arrived back from a refreshing and fun holiday. Sometimes as caregivers we just have to treat ourselves.
I am organising an Auckland North Regional Hui called “Empowering Caregivers”. To be held on 18th August 2017 at the Trust Stadium Henderson. 9am–2.30pm. See Akl-North-Regional-Hui-Flyer for details and you must register to attend. Providing information of dietary requirements/whether you are a professional or a member of Fostering Kids NZ, and contact details.
It’s been great to see a good response from our caregivers in our area wishing to go to our national conference in Christchurch at the end of September. Thanks to all the wonderful fundraising that has occurred to support the costs of some to attend. I am sure they will be bringing back some excellent information and resources to share with those not able to go. The link to register is open and I know that it is a highlight on my calendar.
I’ve been impressed to see our closed Facebook page getting more use from our caregiver members. Thanks for the posts everyone! The posts are about notices of meetings, events relevant to caregivers, articles that spark a bit of thinking, and, it’s been great to see people posting questions or in need of support. This is what it’s for, another support tool so you can connect in with others who journey a similar caregiving path. Remember I’m here, Fostering Kids NZ is here and your local support/ network group and association (run by your peers) are also here, should you need us and to connect and not journey alone. Don’t forget to join our Facebook Support page.

There was an outstanding response to our recent advertisement of the Te Rito Bicultural Competency E-Learning Modules. If you registered for this, by now you should have received your access to begin this training. If you haven’t received anything, please contact Christine at firstname.lastname@example.org
We are aware a few people have been experiencing problems with their access or it not saying they have completed the modules. The training organisation, is looking into this and hopes to have it rectified soon. If you continue to experience issues, please contact us so we can pass on your details.
