2018 Annual General Meeting

Thank you to those who attended our AGM in Lower Hutt, had afternoon tea with their Regional Coordinator and sent in a Proxy vote. Your continued involvement and interest in Fostering Kids NZ is greatly appreciated.

It is with sadness that we said farewell to two Board members, Peter Edmonds and Janice Purchase.  Peter was the Board’s Cultural Advisor and began his tenure in 2010.  Peter brought to the Board a vast experience of foster care, as a whangai to his grandparents.  Peter provided wisdom and insight as the Board sought to establish organisational policies and procedures that were culturally appropriate.  Peter retired last month. Janice was the Lower South Island Regional Representative and had finished her term on the Board.  Janice was a valued and determined member of the Board.  She was never afraid to put up her hand if she saw injustice, especially with child abuse.

Our Annual Report was presented at the AGM, for a copy of your own report either click here, or contact our office 0800 693 323 for a hard copy.

The new Constitution was passed unanimously at the AGM and takes affect immediately.  For a copy of our new Constitution click here.

At this year’s AGM, we trialed sharing the AGM via YouTube Live with mixed results.  Some people found it good that they could see and hear the AGM without travelling and the link was easy to use.  On the other hand some people found that the AGM was rushed and they didn’t have time to ask (text) questions.  Next year, even though it is a conference year, we will still offer live streaming of the AGM, but will work on making this a more inclusive experience.
